The goal of Sunday fun racing is to provide cruisers an introduction to more formal racing in a fun and less stressful environment. It acts as a bridge between the casual and informal Thursday races and the Saturday club races. For most new racers, the most stressful time of the race is during the start and so we eliminate that by using a staggered start. This way you can focus on hitting the line at the right time without the stress of collision avoidance. Once on the course the fleet is initially spread out more than with a mass start. Although the racing is low key it is still competitive and the racing rules apply. The typical Sunday fun course is a triangle from A ( Bayou Chico #2) to J (#23) to D (#29) and back to A.

For RDMS races we may change the course a little to offer some variation.
We are using the EZ handicapping system which allows us to set the start time based on wind conditions and ratings. We score the races based on the elapsed time of each boat which provides a more equitable handicapping system. The Regatta Man system allows adjustments to be made to individual ratings. In order to encourage participation in the fun races, ratings will be adjusted to level the playing field. The PBCF steering committee will make these adjustments.
It is very important that you register for the Sunday races as there is no way to score your result otherwise here is the link to the regattaman calendar
